GRIS Field Trips

Galloway Ridge Intermediate School plans three main field trips each spring. Your child will receive a permission slip, along with trip information, from his/her teacher.

SEEDS

Students Exploring Ecosystem Dynamics is a partnership program between South-Western City Schools and Columbus Metro Parks. Our 5th grade classes will be visiting Darby Creek Metro Park. They will take an exploratory hike, learn about watersheds and water pollution prevention, and discover nature using microscopes and other scientific tools. Lunch will be a sack lunch from our cafeteria, or packed from home.

Olentangy Indian Caverns

The 6th grade classes will be traveling to the Olentangy Indian Caverns in Delaware, Ohio. The cave tour will teach the students about the Native Americans who inhabited the cave, including how the different rooms in the cave may have been used. Lunch will be a sack lunch from our cafeteria, or packed from home.

Westland High School Class Play

The 6th grade classes will be walking to Westland High School to watch their school play. Your student must be at school by 11:30 AM to attend this trip. Please make sure your student wears appropriate clothing for walking and eating outdoors. Lunch will be a sack lunch from our cafeteria, or packed from home.
